Chinese patent applications reveal the brand-new electric sports car from MG.

Do you remember MG, the brave British automaker that was behind fun little sports cars like the MGB and the Metro 6R4 with Group B specs? After going bankrupt in the early 2000s, the British automaker was resurrected in 2006 by the Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC and began offering low-priced vehicles throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia. With the Cyberster, a new two-seat, all-electric sports car, MG appears to be returning to its roots.

In 2021, the Cyberster was first made public as a concept car that showcased the brand’s Chinese owners’ vision. The EV sports car at the time was advertised as an all-electric two-seater that would bring MG into the future while also paying homage to its past.

Presently, after two years, the implied subtleties of the creation spec all-electric games vehicle have been uncovered in patent filings with the Chinese government. As first detailed by English outlet AutoCar, the filings show a two-seat electric convertible that is fueled by engines on the front and back axles.
